Thrillharmonik is an ambitious musical adventure from Jammes Luckett, known for her diverse discography and memorable film soundtracks.
Under the Thrillharmonik banner, Luckett creates dramatic orchestral experiences that push the boundaries of traditional orchestral music by weaving in elements of rock, hip hop, and electronic genres with lots of experimentation unfolding along the way.
This unique sound has been highlighted across Thrillharmonik's releases since the first release, an E.P. called "The Prometheus Suite" (2018). The E.P. celebrates the visionary spirit and scientific innovation through an intersection of musical worlds (including a crossover from Sister Transistor's Garagio).
In "A Story Foreword" (2019), released to commemorate 400 years of uninterrupted African American history, Thrillharmonik crafted a powerful album—part cinematic hip hop album, part dance opera—designed to be a multimedia experience with a forthcoming companion book filled with Jammes's extensive research.
Even earlier, Luckett's penchant for reinvention was displayed on "The Nutcracker Sweetness" (2011), which offered spirited electronic rock adaptations of Tchaikovsky's ballet classics.
Looking ahead, Thrillharmonik is set to release "Siren in the Shadows," an instrumental album presented as a faux soundtrack. This exciting project tells the untold story of Josephine Baker's daring work as a spy for the French Resistance during WWII. The album promises a rich tapestry of jazz-inspired sounds, from cool jazz to Egyptian and Middle Eastern flavors; all nodding to the diverse locales of Baker's covert missions.
Just as it is shown elsewhere in Luckett's body of work, Thrillharmonik continues the tradition of music as a powerful vehicle for boundary-pushing storytelling and even historical remembrance.
