She then relocated to Los Angeles to attend USC and launch a songwriting career. She is now based in the NYC metro area.

Luckett is the creative architect behind Poperratic, her long-running alternative rock band renowned for its emotional depth, catchy melodies, unconventional arrangements, and a fearless blending of rock power, the urgency of punk and grunge, pop melody, jazz-informed phrasing and color, and sweet harmonies. Poperratic evolved from her solo project, Alien Tempo Experiment 13 (ATE 13), founded in 1994 as a direct response to being relegated to supporting roles with limited creative input in other bands.

After dozens of lo-fi cassette releases, ATE 13's 1998 7" vinyl debut, Live! From the Roller Derby!, co-produced by AJ Lambert and Don Fleming, earned full rotation on KXLU Los Angeles and secured her first sync placement. This success spurred the founding of Go Little Records, the precursor to her current studio and label, Art Mechanix. She has since performed at legendary venues like the Whisky a Go Go and festivals including International Pop Overthrow and, as a session player and touring performer with another artist, a set at Glastonbury.

As a composer and songwriter, Luckett has delivered original music for acclaimed projects including May (Lionsgate), Masters of Horror (Showtime), and the upcoming animated feature The Weird Kidz (produced by Rick and Morty’s Justin Roiland). Her scores, praised by Variety and The Los Angeles Times, have been crucial to defining films' emotional tones, leading to dedicated soundtrack compilations, including a 2022 double-vinyl set honored as an official Record Store Day selection. Luckett’s music has also aired on Showtime, MTV, FX, Bravo, and NFL Network and has been sampled, remixed, and cited in critical analyses.

Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Luckett's creative foundation was formed early. Born in 1974, she grew up as a Gen X latchkey kid in the Midwest—a setting that gave her the space and necessity to self-educate, explore, and imagine freely. She began composing, playing, and recording music at age eight, teaching herself by ear on secondhand and toy instruments, radios, books, cassette recorders, a Commodore 64, and homemade setups. This served as her earliest classroom and laboratory for songwriting, performance, computer programming, animation, and other forms of storytelling. Surrounded by comics, code, movies, records, and early tech, she instinctively began building worlds from whatever was at hand. These formative experiences nurtured her deep curiosity, resilience, and creative adaptability—traits that remain at the heart of everything she does.

After winning awards as a soloist and ensemble player in high school jazz, marching, and symphonic bands, she relocated to Los Angeles to attend USC and launch a songwriting career, eventually spending over 25 years there. She is currently based in the NYC metro area.

Luckett is the creative force behind Poperratic, an alternative rock band known for its emotional depth, unconventional arrangements, and fearless fusion of rock power, the urgency of punk and grunge, pop melody, jazz-informed phrasing, and sweet harmonies. Poperratic emerged from her earlier solo band, Alien Tempo Experiment 13 (ATE 13), which she founded in 1994 as a direct response to being boxed in creatively by other bands.

ATE 13 was an outlet for raw experimentation, and it grew into a prolific lo-fi project, with dozens of self-released cassettes passed hand-to-hand through Los Angeles. One of these early recordings caught the attention of AJ Lambert (Bloodslide, Looker), who selected ATE 13 for a limited-edition 7" vinyl release project on her label Glimmerfed Records. The resulting EP, Live! From the Roller Derby! (1998), was co-produced by Lambert and Don Fleming (Sonic Youth, Hole, Shonen Knife) and earned full rotation on KXLU Los Angeles as well as Luckett’s first sync placement.

That same year, Luckett launched Go Little Records—a personal imprint, storytelling, and songwriting pitch hub that eventually evolved into her creative label and studio, Art Mechanix (ARMX). Under these banners, she began performing at iconic L.A. venues including the Whisky a Go Go, Spaceland, and The Coconut Teaszer, as well as festivals like the International Pop Overthrow.

Over time, Luckett expanded ATE 13’s foundation into Poperratic as well as a family of sibling projects that evolved into the current bands Sister Transistor, Regard Neuf, Thrillharmonik, and Merkcurie. Each of these bands explores a different stylistic or emotional frequency. Think of them as prisms of Poperratic: varied in tone, but connected by the same bold, multilayered vision.

Luckett has also made lasting contributions as a composer and songwriter (ATE 13 and Poperratic songs have made many appearances alongside her scores) for film and television. Her original music has been featured in cult classics like May (Lionsgate), Masters of Horror (Showtime), The Woods (Sony/UA/MGM), First Date (Magnet Releasing), and the animated feature The Weird Kidz (produced by Justin Roiland of Rick and Morty). Critics have praised her scores and songs for enhancing narrative depth.

May, in particular, has seen Luckett’s work continue to earn recognition in recent years, even a couple of decades after the film’s premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. It included nods from subsequent re-releases on Blu-ray, an early soundtrack career retrospective commissioned by La-La Land Records, as well as a 20th anniversary double-vinyl soundtrack from Terror Vision Records in 2022, which was selected as an official Record Store Day title. Her score and songs have also been cited in a number of critical reviews and academic essays as a key emotional element that has contributed to the film’s enduring legacy as a cultural touchstone in the horror genre and feminist cinema.

Her publishing catalog, Pied Piper Lorre Musesick (ASCAP), has been licensed across both indie and major brands and aired on networks, including Showtime, MTV, FX, Bravo, and the NFL Network. A small portion of the catalog is also administered by Sony Music Publishing and Universal Music Publishing Group.

Jammes has additionally collaborated as a session musician and touring performer, including a 2022 European tour for AJ Lambert with a set at Glastonbury Festival. Luckett’s songs have also been covered, sampled, and remixed by other independent artists and have, themselves, occasionally been licensed for sync placements.

Often taking a hands-on approach to her work, Luckett has also overseen the full audio production pipeline: music editing, sound design, licensing, supervision, and rights management on many projects. Her creative versatility extends beyond music into writing, directing, voice acting, and animation.

As a filmmaker, her own award-winning short films and animated music videos—including Android in Love (2012), Invitation (2024), and Zero Hero (2025)—have received selections and honors at international film festivals. She also co-produced a live show, as well as wrote and directed a live musical segment for it that earned a Silver ADDY Award from the American Advertising Federation in 2016.

Throughout her career, Luckett has operated with remarkable self-reliance. In a world where access and opportunity are often uneven, she has continued to create work that is strikingly personal, emotionally resonant, and unapologetically original. What began as a necessity—making things on her own terms—became a lifelong practice of building meaningful art without compromise. And, for its range, depth, and distinct artistic fingerprint, the work ahs earned her comparisons to McCartney, Cobain, Prince, the Pixies, Siouxsie, Monk, Brian Wilson, PJ Harvey, and even Pharrell. One admirer even publicly called on Mark Lanegan to collaborate with Luckett—a testament to the respect this singular talent has earned in the eyes of true music lovers.

Today, Jammes is reintroducing Poperratic through curated reissues, unreleased material, new projects, and a return to live performance. Her animated music video for "Zero Hero," completed in May 2025, is already a multi-award winner on the international film festival circuit. The song itself—originally recorded in 2000—serves as a metaphorical superhero origin story for those who discover their ultimate superpower in self-love and difference.
