What is Art Mechanix?
Art Mechanix, LLC (aka Art Mechanix Entertainment) is an independent creative studio, record label, and publisher founded by Jammes Luckett, with a verifiable history of work in the public space for more than 20 years. The primary public web domains websites owned and operated by us are https://www.artmechanix.com and https://www.jammesluckett.com.
How we protect your data
SSL
Our websites use encrypted security certificates using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technologies and are powered by a reputable web hosting provider. Whether on our websites or elsewhere, always make sure that you see an indication that the website is secure when you share any personal information online, such as when making a purchase or anytime you enter data into a form.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Forms
Whether visitors submit correspondence through a contact form, our websites collect the information you’ve provided solely for Art Mechanix to read that communication and take action as needed (i.e. a response or information for a project).
When visitors submit personal data for store purchases on any of our websites to make payments, software managed by Art Mechanix (or a reputable third-party) collects the data shown for fulfillment of orders, and some software may additionally perform standard checks to prevent fraud and process payments. The visitor’s IP address and type of browser used may be collected in these cases as well.
In some cases, there may be affiliate links to sites such as Amazon or those of other retailers, developers, and service providers. When possible, it will be made clear that the visitor will complete a purchase on a third-party site, and it is understood that the visitor will familiarize themselves with the policies of such parties before sharing additional information.
Cookies – Comments, Communities, and Articles
If you leave a comment or otherwise complete forms on any of our sites, there may be an option for the site to remember you on a future visit. This may be an opt-in to save information such as your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. Our content management system typically saves these cookies for one year unless you delete it from your web browser first.
When visitors leave comments on any of our websites, the forms collect the data shown in comments forms and community forums for display, as well as the visitor’s IP address and type of browser used in order to help detect and combat spam and behaviors that could negatively impact security, performance, and visitors’ overall enjoyment of the website.
On post comment forms, an anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service through our websites’ content management systems. This system may check if you are already using Gravatar to retrieve any custom avatar (profile picture) that you created to personalize your comments on apps and websites online. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your Gravatar profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Even though Jammes Luckett and Art Mechanix will not utilize such data, it is a good practice to avoid sharing this kind of data online, especially in public spaces and online communities. Visitors to websites and apps where these images are shared can download and extract any location data from them.
Embedded content from other websites
Content on our websites may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Although Art Mechanix does not track users’ activities across the internet, others sometimes do, and so we recommend enabling any options in your browser to “ask websites not to track” you. This allows the browser to communicate with those websites’ tracking software and share that request.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Visitor comments and form submissions may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Personal information, such as shop orders, may be sent to a reputable retailer or fulfilment location for processing.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Passwords are handled via a hidden, automated process and are never viewable by Jammes Luckett and Art Mechanix, LLC. As always, we recommend that you create only secure passwords and do not share them with anyone directly.
In cases where third parties are needed to process payments or fulfill orders, our system will securely pass the information along to these reputable parties for secure processing.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata itself are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of any personal data you have provided to us and that has been securely store in our database. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are legally obliged to keep for reasonable administrative, legal, or security purposes. Note that Art Mechanix maintains a firm position of protecting its users and will not blindly comply with the release of data in any situations that are blatantly unethical, inhumane, or unjust.
Examples include:
- Financial records: If you’ve made purchases, we need to keep some records for tax purposes.
- Legal compliance data: If your data becomes related to any serious legal proceedings or requirements, we may be required to keep it.
- Security logs: For security reasons, we might keep logs of activity, even if it contains some of your data. This helps us investigate breaches or abuse.
